MENTORING
Ongoing mentoring can help an employee with those little issues which
crop up from day to day in their work. By having someone to talk
to about these things, issues can be dealt with promptly, before they
become major obstacles to getting on with the job. Where
appropriate, mentoring can also help in the development of more
effective working practices, thus potentially reducing the need for
ongoing support, whilst promoting greater independence for the disabled
person.
Mentoring support can be provided by telephone, through email and by
visiting the employee at the workplace or at some other venue.
With this support, the employee can feel that he or she is not alone
and this will help to build the confidence to work more effectively and
more independently.
